Summary: This position is responsible for providing information related to medications, assembling medicines for prescriptions and dispensing prescriptions and over the counter medications to patients, customers or health professionals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accepts written prescriptions or refill requests from patients and evaluates the information provided for completeness and accuracy. Assists pharmacists and other technicians to assure that all prescriptions are filled or packaged for the correct patient with the correct medications in the correct quantities and dosage forms, including compounding prescriptions and narcotics. Records medical histories while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prints packing slips and matches with medications to ensure accurate packaging and delivery to patients and customers.
  • Performs inventory audits and purchases supplies and medications. Maintains adequate stock of pre-filled Narcotic cards and supplies for the filling area including comfort kits and ingredients.
  • Delivers quality customer service to patients and customers, responds to inquiries, questions, or requests, and refers them to the pharmacist for medical information, as necessary. Ensure quality control and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. A current, unrestrictive pharmacy technician license from the State of TN required. Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.

Experience: One year of experience required. Must have working knowledge of computer systems, insurance and 3rd party payors, medications and medical terminology.
